Abstract

1505001 Drawing metal tubing KABELUND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 15 July 1976 [24 July 1975] 29528/76 Heading B3P Apparatus for drawing metal tubing 1 comprises a vertically mounted drawing drum 6 and a drawing die 4 between the drum and a rotatably driven container 2 which accommodates a coil of tubing to be drawn. The drum 6 is provided with a gripping device 5 whereby tubing leaving the die is wound on the drum, the device 5 being releasable to allow tubing to pass continuously into a receptable 8 beneath the drum. The operative axial length of the drum is substantially equal to the outside diameter of the tubing multiplied by the number of turns on the drum required to transmit the necessary drawing force, i.e. eight turns in the example disclosed. The container 2 rotates at a constant level while the drawing die 4 rises from a lowermost position at the beginning of drawing to an uppermost position when the clamping device 5 is released.
