1504659 Production of phthalonitriles INST NEFTEKHIM PROTSESSOV IM AKAD JU G MAMEDALIEVA AKAD NAUK AZERBAIDZHAN SSR 17 June 1976 25060/76 Heading C2C A process for producing phthalonitrile comprises reacting o-xylene with ammonia at a temperature within the range of from 350‹ to 550‹ C. in the presence of oxygen or a mixture thereof with inert gases and a catalyst, viz. a mixture of oxides of bismuth, antimony, molybdenum and chromium taken in a molar ratio of 1-15 : 1-10 : 0À5-5 : 0À5-20 respectively or a mixture of oxides of bismuth, antimony, molybdenum and vanadium taken in a molar ratio of 1-20 : 1-10 : 0À1-15 : 1- 120 respectively deposited on to a support, followed by isolation of the desired product.
