Abstract

1508516 Formaldehyde SOC ITALIANA RESINE SIR SpA 4 March 1976 [5 March 1975] 8780/76 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde in the presence of a catalyst consisting of granules of crystalline iron molybdtate and molybdenum trioxide, with atomic ratio of Mo : Fe of 1-6 : 1 to 2-2 : 1, with bismuth oxide (0À5-10% by wt.) in their surface (see Division B1). Using the catalyst methane is oxidized to formaldehyde the catalyst methane is oxidized to formaldehyde in a Carboy apparatus at 250‹ C. with a conversion of 93-95% and with a selectivity of 90%.
