Abstract

1504200 Adjustable vehicle seat A W CHAPMAN Ltd 13 May 1975 19981/75 Heading A4J [Also in Division E2] A vehicle passenger seat comprises an angularly adjustable backrest 18 locked in position by the engagement of a catch 28 pivotally connected to the seat rest frame with a set of teeth on a plate 35 connected to the backrest frame, the catch being moved out of engagement with the teeth by a rotatable cam 27 connected to a hand lever and pivotally connected to the seat rest frame and the sides of the backrest frame being inter-connected by a torsion resistant element 23. The pivotal axis of the backrest is defined by a pivot 38 passing through the plate 35 into a boss on a mounting plate 25 secured to the seat rest frame. Angular adjustment of the backrest is limited by a rivet 46 on the mounting plate engaging with a slot 45 on the plate 35.
