Abstract

1422786 Locking hinges H R TURNER (WILLENHALL) LTD 18 July 1973 [20 May 1972] 23842/72 Heading E2F [Also in Division A4] An adjustable seat backrest 12 is held in position by the engagement of a toothed member 32, movably mounted on the backrest, with a set of teeth 42 fixed to the seat rest 10 and concentric with the pivotal connection 14 between the seat rest and the backrest, disengagement of the teeth being effected by rotation of a disc 20 on a disc 16 eccentrically mounted on the pivotal connection 14 and contained within a part annular member 24 which is provided with an extension 26 engaged in a recess in the toothed member. The toothed member may be pivotally connected to the backrest. Alternatively the toothed member may be provided with a projection (76) (Fig. 4 not shown) which engages a slot (74) in the backrest adjusting bracket which may be formed in two releasably connected parts (12a), (12b), to allow the backrest to be thrown forwardly.
