Abstract

1503358 Lightwell W H NOACK S DOMBAJ and H L NIEHSEN 6 Aug 1975 32938/75 Heading E1R A lightwell for a window below ground level comprises a corrugated sheet 6, the curvature of the sheet in a horizontal plane increasing towards its side edges which engage the wall around the window. The corrugations extend downwardly from planar portions 10, 11 on which a grating may be supported, to a bottom portion 5 which may be planar or domed and contains a drainage hole 7. Flanges 9 abut against a wall and have fixing holes 3, 4. A metal bar 2 rests at its ends on planar portions 11 and the liehtwell is secured to a wall by bolts through aligned holes 3, 15 and holes 4. The sheet 6 bulges out so that its maximum distance from the wall plane is below its top edge. The corrugations have outwardly convex parts of greater curvature than outwardly concave parts.
