Abstract
1502892 Image pick up tubes HITACHI Ltd 25 July 1975 [26 July 1974] 31138/75 Heading H1D An image pick up tube includes between the electron gun and the target 2 a focusing lens comprising 3 coaxial cylindrical electrodes 19, 22, 23 whose inner diameters decrease from the target. The electrodes are supported on glass rods 21 via tabs 20, 20a, 20b with the electrode ends overlapping. The rods have rectangular or oval cross-section. Electrode 23 may be of constant diameter or may be tapered. The gun includes first and second electrodes 7, 8 and an apertured electrode 8a attached to the second electrode. The electrodes 8a and 19 act as a prefocusing lens. The tube screen is photoconductive. The lens is assembled in a jig comprising a mandrel on which the electrodes fit, supports for the glass rods and gas heaters. The rods are heated and the supports stated to press the rods against the tabs 20 until the glass cools. Differences in heating, operational times and pressures applied to each rod must be kept within specified limits.
