Abstract

1502370 Knitting-machines MEC-MOR SpA 19 Feb 1975 [28 Feb 1974] 7045/75 Heading D1C A circular knitting machine has a stationary cylinder (and dial, as shown) with a needlefree zone 7 and a thread cutting device 8, threads being fed from spools 9 on a fixed structure 10 to respective thread guide systems 11 at the zone 7 which are selectively movable to feed selected cut threads to guide means 62, 63 on a rotating structure 6 of the machine which in turn feed the threads to the needles. Each system 11 comprises a thread guide 11a and a guide lever 11b independently pivotable and controlled by cams 33, 40 rotating in synchronism with the machine structure 6. When a thread is cut at the end of a course, a tooth 41 on cam 40 frees a locking lever 43 to allow lever 11b to rise under spring force and the thread is trapped in a notch 21. Locking levers 36 are then freed by depressions 34 in the cams 33 but the guides 11a remain locked by levers 52 except for a selected guide for each feed which is released by a peg 57 on a programming chain 56 and falls under its own weight to feed thread into notches in the guide means 62, 63. The cut thread end is taken up by a suction port 67 and after a few needles have caught the thread its tension pulls down lever 11b to release the thread from notch 21. The thread guides 11a have progressively greater inclinations to prevent the threads of the respective guide means from fouling one another.
