Abstract

SILVER 30 May 1975 23657/75 Heading A5R [Also in Division B8] A bath for treating cows teats with a germicidal liquid comprises a generally frustoconical cup with a wall 20 having a hinged cover 62' and screw threads 28 on its lower end portion, a flexible walled container 10 containing the liquid 12 and formed with a neck portion 14 having external threads for engaging threads 28 of the cup, and a flexible tube 36 extending from the liquid in container 10 through an opening 34 in the bottom of the cup in a snug fit into the cup and being held to the side of the cup by a plug 44 so that on squeezing the container 10 liquid is forced up through the tube and into the cup. The plug, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), has a cruciform stem (50) onto which the upper end of the tube is pushed leaving channels (54) between the four fins (52) of the cruciform and the tube, and a depending flange 60 of greater diameter than the tube so that the liquid flows through the channels, is deflected by the top wall of the plug and flows down between the tube and the flange towards the bottom of the cup, the plug being clipped onto the cup by a tab (70). The cover 62' is connected to the cup by a U- shaped hinge 74 and has a lip 66 which engages with a complementary lip 68 on the cup. The container 10 may be formed from polyethylene or polypropylene and the tube 36 formed from a soft and resilient material such as rubber or polyvinyl chloride.
