Abstract

1501616 Stabilizing ships HYDROCONIC Ltd 27 March 1975 [28 May 1974] 23689/74 Heading B7M A passive roll-damping tank 11 or 17 is partially filled with liquid which has a free surface extending from end to end 13 of the tank and which moves in the direction from end to end upon occurrence of the roll to be damped. The tank has a rectangular vertical cross-section which is uniform except at its ends and the ends of the tank in plan are reduced by being continuously curved or chamfered to a point or radiused at the corners. In elevation there is a reduction in depth as the extreme end of the tank is approached.
