1501203 A manual seeding device R ROVERE 16 April 1975 15571/75 Headings A1B and A1D A seeding device comprises two slidably mounted parts 1 and 13 of which part 1 carries a seed hopper 5 and part 13 carries a handle (15) Fig. 2 (not shown) and an extension or bar 16, and a stop plate 3 for limiting the penetration of the device into the ground, wherein the part 1 has a narrowed end portion or the portion terminates into a pointed end. When the handle (15) is depressedthe rod 16 sinks a grain received within the part 1 from the hopper 5. In the depressed condition the part 13 receives a grain in its aperture 9 and when the handle 15 is raised the grain is transferred to the space within the part 1 through its aperture 10. While the grain is within the part 1 it is prevented from dropping out by a spring 4. In another embodiment the hopper 21 contains a reciprocable spreader 22 having apertures 24 and teeth (25) Fig. 9 (not shown) such that when the part 27 is depressed its flange (28) Fig. 3 (not shown) meshes with a tooth (25) to rotate the spreader 22 in one direction to allow a grain to fall within the part 17 via an aperture 37 and when the part 27 is raised its second flange (29) meshes with a tooth (25) to off-set the alignment of the apertures 24 and 37. The stop plate of the device may be in the form of a disc. In another embodiment the stop plate 35 can be replaced with a similar plate but having a penetrating end 20 with a different size passage in order to obtain holes in the ground which correspond to the types of grain to be planted.
