Abstract

1500463 Discharging hoppers SUMITOMO METAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 March 1976 [26 March 1975] 12305/76 Heading B8S [Also in Division B1] A mass of steel fibres F, which is required to be dispersed into a batch of concrete or mortar, is located in a hopper 1 below which is a drum 2 having needle-like projections or tines 4 arranged in rows on its surface, and a cylindrical cover 10 partially encloses the drum 2 and has an inlet in its upper surface communicating with the hopper 1 and a discharge outlet 11 in its lower surface, so that the fibres F can pass from the hopper 1 to the drum 2 which is oscillated back and forth at a predetermined amplitude and frequency by means of a driven disc 7 connected by a link 6 to a lever 5 which is fixed to one end of a central shaft 3 of the drum 2. The shaft 3 is mounted in bearings 3a (3b), Fig. 1 (not shown), the bearings being mounted on support posts (13a, 13b). The disc 7 is driven by a motor 9.
