1500067 Instant tea solutions; bottling syrups therefrom SCHWEPPES Ltd 18 June 1976 [4 July 1975] 28393/75 Heading A2B A beverage concentrate is made by forming an aqueous solution containing 4-5% wt./vol. instant tea to which sufficient citric acid has been added to provide a pH of 2.5-3.5, and cooling the solution to and clarifying it at, 0-5‹C The instant tea may be soluble in cold water and clarifying may be performed by filtration. A bottling syrup is made from the concentrate by adding sugar or sugar syrup and preservative, and a beverage is made by diluting and carbonating the syrup. Flavourings may be added to the syrup, in which case the tea-taste is masked.
