Valves controlled by pilot or relay valves. - A valve device actuated by two different impulses, as for instance the pressures in the main conduit on the inlet and outlet sides, is arranged so that each impulse acts on its own relay, which relays influence separate distributing devices for controlling the mechanism operating the main valve. In the form shown, the main valve 2 is loaded by a spring 3 and is actuated by a pair of pistons w, w' acting through a lever 7 under the control of auxiliary valves C, C<1> controlled by further auxiliary valves B, B'. The principal auxiliary valves comprise a pair of pistons i, i<2> actuated by a diaphragm l against the, action of a spring m to connect the port u leading to the actuating- conduit o either to an inlet conduit h or an outlet k. Inlet pressure is admitted to the chamber r beneath the diaphragm l through a passage s and flows away through a conduit f, the outlet from which is obstructed by a plate e adjusted by a bellows c subject to the pressure in tne main conduit a. An increase of pressure in the main conduit moves the plate e in the valve B away from the conduit f and in the valve B' towards the pipe f. In a modification, the two pistons are connected by chains to toothed wheels on the main valve spindle. A single piston controlled by the single auxiliary valve actuated by a pair of diaphragms may be employed. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification in which the main valve is actuated by a single piston under the control of two diaphragm actuated auxiliary valves arranged in series. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
