1499506 Offshore structures O T WILLIAMS H W DUPREE R E FOOT W D R KERR G S LUCAS D A PRICE S H ROGERS D S WILLS and W B WILSON 18 July 1975 [15 Aug 1974] 36057/74 Heading E1H A structure, Fig. 1, to be located on the sea - bed which has a base 10 with a cavity 22 extending upwards from a lower opening, is manufactured by making at least part of the base on land and then flooding the land area with the lower opening closed so that the base can be floated away. The base is closed by a plug 27 which is removed when the structure is sunk at the working location. The base has compartments 17 separated by annular wales 16. The plug is of stressed skin construction and is made of steel plate and girders.
