Abstract
1499086 Preparation of L-hydroxyproline SOC LA BIOCHIMIE APPLIQUEE A L'INDUSTRIE 21 April 1976 [12 May 1975 31 March 1976] 16061/76 Heading C2C 4 - Hydroxy - L - proline (i.e. L - hydroxyproline) is prepared by hydrolysing a collagencontaining material, passing the hydrolysate through a weakly basic anion-exchange resin whereby the resin absorbs glutamic acid, aspartic acid and inorganic anions, passing the effluent through a strongly acidic cationexchange resin whereby the resin absorbs amino acids, eluting the amino acids from the resin and recovering the 4-hydroxy-L-proline from the eluate. The starting material is suitably detanned leather waste, skins and/or pork rinds or boiled-bone liquors.
