Abstract

1498874 Fastener STANDARD PRESSED STEEL CO 19 Feb 1975 6937/75 Heading F2H A vibration-resistant threaded fastener 10 has a thread 18 which is provided with serrations 20 in the form of teeth on the flank 16 of the thread which is subjected to a compressive load when the fastener is engaged in a workpiece, each tooth extending inwardly from the crest of the thread to a point inwardly of the pitch diameter thereof and comprising an inclined ramp 28 and buttress 22. The ramp 28 may be at an angle of between 5 and 25 degrees to a plane extending tangentially to the helix of the thread from the root of the tooth. The buttress 22 may extend radially. The fastener may be a set screw.
