Abstract
1498590 Lining centrifugal pipe moulds KURIMOTO HUME PIPE Ltd 22 March 1976 [20 March 1975 (4)] 11497/76 Heading B5A A mould 1 is provided with an internal solidified layer 3 of a stripping agent, and is then rotated with its axis horizontal to centrigugally mould a concrete pipe from a slurry. Heat is applied to partially cure the concrete while still in the mould and to melt the stripping agent, whereafter the pipe is removed from the mould and curing completed using steam. The stripping agent comprises paraffin, wax, asphalt, pitch or a mixture of these, melting at 45-55‹ C. and is applied to the mould by liquid spraying, or rotating the mould while hot-blasting a contained powder. A steel reinforcing cage is inserted in the cylindrical or tapered one-piece cast iron mould 1, which is provided with metal ends 4. Rotation is effected via tyres 2 by a driving roll as slurry is introduced. When the concrete is stiff rotation is stopped, and after 1 hour standing at room temperature the mould and pipe are placed in hot water or a steam chamber at 65‹ C. When partially cured and the stripping agent has melted, the pipe is pushed from the mould and further steam cured. Stripping agent remaining on the pipe is thus reclaimed and reapplied to the mould. The mould may define a socketed pipe.
