Abstract

1498422 Climbing shuttering with platforms HOLST & CO Ltd 13 Aug 1975 [5 Aug 1974] 34459/74 Heading E1S [Also in Division B8] A wall is constructed in a series of increments, e.g. by pouring concrete in shuttering 31, with the use of a climbing platform structure 5-6-7-8 having automatic latching means 61, 62, the platform structure first being rigidly attached to securing means, e.g. tie-bolts 21, 22, extending from a previously-formed part of the wall, an increment of wall above the platform then being constructed, and the rigid connection being loosened to allow the platform structure .to be raised a distance of one increment up the wall whilst being guided on the securing means, whereupon the latches 61, 62 automatically engage with the next higher securing means and the platform is then rigidly attached thereto. The latches 61, 62 are pivoted in pendulum fashion on inner uprights 5 of the platform structure, and each latch has a cam surface for pushing aside on riding over a tie-bolt, and a notch for seating on the bolt when the latch swings back. The tie-bolts carry clamping plates for rigidly holding the uprights 5 when tightened, and for guiding the uprights when loosened. A telescopic platform 8 comprises a main part 81, and slidable extensions 82 which' each have a pair of lugs 84 passing through slots in the main part 81 and connected by a cross-bar 85 to prevent tipping. The shuttering comprises main panels 90 with make-up panels 91 of different widths therebetween and filler panels 92 to cover the gaps, so that the diameter of shuttering, e.g. for a cooling tower, can be varied. Projecting horizontal reinforcing members 95 of the panels 91 are supported on horizontal reinforcing members 94 of the panels 90, and brackets 97 on the panels, each having a peg, engage apertured brackets 101 on soldiers 32. For raising, the shuttering 'is completely stripped, and the platform structure is raised by a winch temporarily mounted on the top of the wall.
