Abstract

1497724 Roofing felts JENS VILLADSENS FABRIKER AB 18 Feb 1975 [18 Feb 1974] 6807/75 Heading B2E A roofing felt comprises one or more support layers made from woven or non- woven material and impregnated or coated on both sides with bitumen or asphalt, and a film of polyethylene not more than 10Á thick on at least one side of the felt to prevent stacks or rolls of felt adhering. To apply the felt the asphalt or bitumen is burnt to soften it, the burning completely destroying the polyethylene layer. Raw felt, jute and glass fabrics are suitable support materials. In an example, glass fabric is impregnated by dipping into distilled bitumen 80/100, coated on both sides with oxidised 80/40 bitumen then sprayed on both sides with a layer of talc. After cooling a layer of oxidised 85/40 bitumen was applied to one side and after further cooling an 8Á thick polyethylene layer was roller coated onto the 85/40 bitumen layer.
