Abstract

1497456 Making bags from PVC film CROFTON Ltd 25 May 1976 [23 June 1975] 26632/75 Heading B5D [Also in Division B8] In a method of making bags from PVC film which originated as lay flat tubing, the face A of the film that was the inside surface of the lay flat tubing is arranged to form the outside surfaces of the bags and vice versa. The bags are produced by longitudinally folding and then transversely seaming and cutting a single thickness web 6 obtained by trimming off the longitudinal edges of the lay flat tubing. The web may be longitudinally folded along its centre line or along a line 10 offset from its centre line. In the latter instance the longitudinally extending single thickness marginal portion 14 of the folded web may or may not be folded over prior to the transverse searing and and cutting operation. Said single thickness marginal portion 14 forms closure flaps in the finished bags. The finished bags may be stacked. The PVC may be between 12À5 and 100 microns thick.
