Abstract

149,706. Vickers, Ltd., and Francis, C. E. Feb. 13, 1919. Sewing-machines; lock-stitching.-Irregular rotary motion is imparted to a hook or shuttle shaft a from a tubular shaft b surrounding but eccentric to the shaft a. A crank b<1> on the tubular shaft is connected by a short link e to a crank on the shaft a. In place of the short link a pin and slot connexion may be used. In the contruction shown in Fig, 4, the driving-shaft b is concentric with the driven shaft a and the connexion between them includes the eccentrically mounted disk i which is driven by a pin-and-slot connexion with a crank j on the shaft b. The disk i is connected to a crank on the shaft a by short link e. The mechanism may be used in sewing machines for driving rotary hooks or shuttles and the constructions shown provide for a main driving shaft at right-angles to the shafts a, b. Feed by dog.-A feed dog g, Fig. 3, is supported from the feed-bar by two pillars g<2>.
