Abstract

1496671 Anticancer product from soured milk GRINDSTEDVAERKET AS 27 March 1975 [28 March 1974] 13838/74 Heading A5B An anticancer composition comprises (a) a fraction of the casein part of soured mammalian milk containing molecules having a molecular weight greater than 500 (as measured by their ability to be stopped by a membrane rejecting molecules having a molecular weight greater than 500) and below 20,000 (as measured by their ability to pass a membrane rejecting molecules having a molecular weight of 20,000 and above), (b) sterile water and optionally (c) up to 60 weight % of other pharmaceutical adjuvants. The sour milk may be prepared from the milk or cream of cows, goats, sheep, horses, donkeys or buffalos either by allowing it to stand or by accelerating souring by the addition of bacteria, e.g. Thermobacteria helvetium, Streptococcus thermophiles or diplococci. The fat may be removed before fractionation leaving the casein part only. This may be sterilized before or after fractionation, e.g. by irradiation. The casein part may be fractionated by ultrafiltration using cellulose acetate filters or separation on molecular sieves. The aqueous product may be freezedried, and dispersed in sterile pyrogen-free water for use.
