Abstract

1496179 Rolling gear teeth E SEIGWART 19 Aug 1975 [19 Aug 1974] 34373/75 Heading B3M Apparatus for forming a toothed gearwheel or segment from a sheet metal blank 3 includes a drive shaft 1 for rotating the blank, and a gear transmission for driving a rolling die 15 from the shaft. The transmission includes gears 7, 10 and 11 which rotate a shaft 12 carrying the die, and allow the blank and die to be moved towards or away from each other. The shaft 1 may be driven by the chuck of a lathe, and the die 15 moved into contact with the blank by an arm 16. The blank is held between two pressure plates, and the die 5 is flanked by discs 13 and 14 which limit the lateral spread of the rolled teeth, Fig. 4.
