Abstract

1496031 Reciprocating pumps NIPPON CONTROL INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 23 Jan 1975 3077/75 Heading F1A In an electromagnetically-actuated pump comprising a piston 18 reciprocated by a spring-loaded armature 1 to draw liquid from inlet 48 into pumping chamber 44 via filter 38 and check-valve 33 and deliver the liquid to outlet 14 via check-valve 34, passage 51, chamber 6b and armature passage7 , a spring-loaded valve 10 of magnetizable material is seated at the outlet and is controlled by the armature operating coil 2 so as to open when the pump is started and close when the pump is stopped. An accumulator 52 smoothes the discharge pressure. A pressure-relief valve 26 of resilient material and with adjustable spring-loading acts to by-pass the discharge from chamber 6b to the inlet via passages 31, 50. A magnetic force-adjusting rod 8 is provided. Coil 2 is supplied with half-wave rectified, alternating current.
