Abstract

1496001 Lockable hinges RAYDYOT Ltd 6 Jan 1976 [7 Jan 1975] 551/75 Heading E2F [Also in Division B7] A mounting assembly for a vehicle mirror comprises a mirror-supporting arm 12 having a stem 28 rotatably journalled in a body 26, detent means 30, 46 located in the body 26 to yieldably retain the stem 28 in a predetermined angular position relative to the body, and an attachment plate 56 for attachment to a vehicle, the body 26 being releasably secured to the plate 56 by fastening means such as a bolt 62. The body 26 includes a boss 50, opposed faces of which are provided with a projecting square formation for engagement in a complementary recess 60 in the plate 56. Each opposed face of the boss 50 is apertured at 52 giving access for the bolt 62 to secure either of the projecting square formations in the recess 60. The complementary formations on the boss and plate, which may be of any regular non- circular configuration, enable the body 26 to be located on the plate 56 in various different orientations. The detent means comprise a pin 30 secured to the stem 28 and urged by a spring 34 into a V-shaped groove 44 formed in a washer-like plate 46 located in the body 26.
