Abstract

149,585. Baker, F. O. Jan. 30, 1920. Stationary batch mixers with oscillating stirrers.- A curd-stirring machine is provided with two sets of interacting rake - like stirrers oscillating on horizontal axes. The rake prongs 2, 3, Figs. 1 and 2, are mounted on horizontal carriers 5, 6 which are oscillated by an adjustable crank-pin carried by a crank 18 on a shaft 19 through adjustable links 16 and adjustable cranks 14. The cranks and links are made adjustable to allow the movement of the stirrers to be regulated. The carriers are mounted in open bearings to allow removal, and are held in place by pins 28. The crank-shaft 19 is driven by a fast and loose pulley arrangement 22, 23. The rake prongs may be fitted with pivoted blades 35, Fig. 8, which work between stops 38, 39 so placed that the blades turn edgeways during the return movement of the stirrers.
