Abstract

4989. White, W. B. March 5. Folding.-An plaiting-machines in which the crank-shaft is driven from the main shaft through belt gearing, the main driving-shaft A is placed at the rear end of the machine in approximate alinement with the crank-shaft B. Pulleys C on the shaft A drive pulleys D on the shaft B by rope, belt, or chain gearing, the bearings of the shaft A being adjustable. The connecting-rods F are driven from radially adjustable pins Q on the pulleys D made as crank-disks, or they may be driven by cranks or balancing-arms fixed to the shaft B. The pins K by which the connecting- rods are attached to the rocking arms G are adjustable along the length of the arms. Abrake T<1> acts on an enlargement of one of the disks D by engagement with an inclined part U, which is put into action by the usual hand-lever for stopping the machine.
