Abstract
1494925 Wells &c DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc 17 April 1975 [17 April 1974] 15937/75 Heading E1F A dual string circulating valve 10 includes primary and secondary mandrels 11, 12 having ports 26, 25 respectively, a body member 27 encircling both the mandrels 11, 12 in slidable relationship therewith, the body member 27 having a chamber 29 cooperating with a piston 28 formed on the primary mandrel 11 so that application of fluid pressure to the chamber 29 from the primary mandrel 11 through port 26 shifts the body member 27 and brings a port 40 in the body member 27 into communication with port 26 in primary mandrel 11, and a sleeve 47 which surrounds a piston 44 formed on the secondary mandrel 12 so that application of fluid pressure from the secondary mandrel 12 through port 25 shifts the sleeve 47 and body member 27 to close port 40. The body member 27 is initially held in the position shown in Fig. 2 by shear pins 57 in the body member 27 engaging a groove 32 in the primary mandrel. After being shifted back by sleeve 47 the body member 27 is locked in position by spring loaded plungers (not shown) engaging a groove 33 in the primary mandrel 11. Fluid can be applied through the ports 25 or 26 by dropping a ball (not shown) down the appropriate pipe, the ball seating on a seating sleeve (not shown) shearably secured below each mandrel 11 and 12.
