Abstract

1494473 Junction pieces AMBERHOLT Ltd 20 Dec 1974 [26 Sept 1973] 45151/73 Heading F2G An outlet piece for a hydrant comprises a short length of tube 10 with an external screwthread and with an outwardly directed attachment flange 11 at one end, the outlet piece being made from a plastics material moulded around a metallic stiffener 18 extending inside both the wall of the tube 10 and the flange 11. The substantially tubular stiffener 18 is coaxial with the tube 10 and may be pressed or stamped from stainless steel sheet being imperforate apart from bolt holes 16 or may alternatively be made from mild or stainless steel mesh such that the plastics material, e.g. nylon or polypropylene, which may include fibrous reinforcement, may extend through the apertures therein, there being a substantially constant depth of plastics coating the stiffener 18 in both cases. A plated steel ring 22 may be placed over the outer part 13 of the flange 11 so that the tightened connection bolts bear thereon thus protecting and further stiffening the flange 11.
