Abstract
1494132 Conditioning grain BUEHLER AG Gebr 4 Feb 1975 [8 Feb 1974 2 Oct 1974 22 Nov 1974] 4773/75 Heading A2Q Grain (e.g. wheat, rye, barley or oats) is conditioned for milling by treating it with water whilst passing it through an elongated chamber containing a rotor rotating about an axis along the chamber on which is mounted an array of beater bars extending outwards towards the periphery of the chamber so as to provide a circular curtain of grain. In a suitable apparatus -Fig. 1- the in flowing grain is deflected by guide plate 20 on to impact plate 10 which controls water valve 13. The water flow is also controlled manually by valve 19 and may be measured by meter 15. The treated grain leaves the apparatus at 6. Other' apparatus employing different beater bar and water spray arrangements are shown in Figs. 5, 6, 9 and 10. The apparatus in Figs 6 and 10 include accelerator screws 308 and 505 respectively to propel the grain on to the beater bars. Fig. 4 shows a multistage grain treating plant comprising a separator 150 for removing string, straw, stories, grain fragments, sand and the like, stone-remover 101, sorting device 102 for removing corn cockles, vetch and the like, scouring machine 103 for removing husks and loose fragments, grain aspirator 104 for removing dust and husk fragments in a stream of air, wetting apparatus 105 according to the invention and storage containers 106.
