Abstract

1493962 Doctor blade assembly BLACK CLAWSON CO 10 Jan 1975 [11 Jan 1974] 157/75 Heading D1L In a doctor blade assembly of the type in which the blade is actuated by a tube to which fluid is supplied under pressure, the tube 50 is provided with a collapsible wall section 62 adjacent the blade and a rigid back section 60 retained within channel 58, the wall section 62 bearing on the blade via an integral extension 65. In use the wall section 62 is movable between a partially folded condition [Fig. 2 (not shown)] to an extended non-stretched condition [Fig. 4 (not shown)]. As shown the extension 65 is provided with transverse serations 66. The blade is held in a recess (30) [Fig. 1 (not shown)] of a support 15 by a clamp (16) pivoted at (20), the pivot, being off-set from the blade axis so that the blade is urged against the ledge (32) of the recess. Magnets (35) [Fig. 2 (not shown)] are provided in the recess to temporarily retain the blade whilst the clamp is retracted. The clamp bears on the blade via an elastomeric pad (40) or an inflatable tube (42) [Fig. 6 (not shown)]. The pressure of the doctor blade may be supplemented by compressing the sides of the tube 50 using the holder of Fig. 8 (not shown), wherein adjustable fingers (92) are provided at points across the width of the blade.
