Abstract

1422909 Supporting telephone handsets L H VAN DYKE 2 May 1974 19406/74 Heading H4J A holder 14 for a handset is adjustable into two angular positions on a base member 2 to permit wearing on the left or right shoulder. The base member 2 is faced with spongelike material 4 and carries an arm 6. The holder 14 is secured to the arm 6 by a screw 10 and nut 12. Side face 20 of holder 14 has a channel defined by parallel side walls 28, and a second channel defined by parallel side walls 32. Each channel snugly accommodates the arm 6, one for left shoulder working and the other for right shoulder working. Each channel has a cylindrical boss 34, 36. The arm 6 has a cylindrical well 38 (Fig. 4) and when the holder 14 is configured as shown in Fig. 1, the boss 36 fits into the well 38. For left shoulder working the boss 34 is fitted into the well 38. Such arrangement gives rigidity to the coupling of the holder 14 and arm 6. A flexible metallic band 42 is looped over the handset 40.
