Abstract

1493804 Corrugated metal tube UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 14 Nov 1974 [12 Dec 1973] 57682/73 Heading F2P [Also in Divisions B3 and F4] A heat exchange tube for use in a horizontal tube condenser or evaporator is made from a length of metal strip 1 comprising a grooved or corrugated region 2 bounded by plain ungrooved or uncorrugated regions 3, the strip being bent to shape with the plain edges 7, 8 of the strip joined together by soldering, welding or bonding to form the tube. As shown the crests 5 and valleys 6 of the corrugations extend at right angles to the tube axis. Alternatively the crests and valleys may be inclined at an acute angle to the tube axis and so extend in helical paths around a portion of the circumference of the tube. The tube may have a circular or eliptical cross-section.
