Abstract
149,326. Zeiss, C., [Firm of]. July 21, 1919, [Convention date]. Range-finders.-For the purpose of correcting the errors in short-home-base range-finders having two telescope systems and a reflecting system at each end, the forms and dispositions of the reflecting systems are such that one of the reflecting systems can be placed unaltered in front of the entrance aperture of the second reflecting system, thereby converting the range-finder into one having the base-line zero. Figs. 1 and 2 show one example, in which a pentagonal prism e<2> is rotated through 180 degrees in the plane of measurement into a position in front of the other reflecting system, constituted by a Porro prism system. Figs. 5 and 6 show an example in which two Porro prism systems g<1>, g<2> are used, the movable prisms being rotated through 180 degrees in the plane of the base line, and then through 90 degrees in a plane at right-angles, to the position indicated in broken lines. Among other examples described is that shown in Figs. 14, 15 and 16, in which the stationary prism system comprises two pentagonal prisms l<1>, l<3> united by a rhomboidal prism l<2> and the movable prism consists of a pentagonal prism l<4>.
