1493219 Two-part electrical connector SOC TECHNIQUE POUR L'INDUSTRIE NOUVELLE SA STIN 23 Sept 1976 [24 Sept 1975] 39435/76 Heading H2E A multipin plug and socket electrical connector comprises a set of female spring contacts 5a, 5b mounted in a socket body 4, and a set of male blade contacts 2a, 2b mounted in a plug body 1, one set of contacts being fixed, contacts 2a, 2b as shown, whilst the other set is free to slide from a first limit position, to a second limit position. In the first position, which is that of contact 5a in the embodiment shown, the movable contacts are moved by the fixed contacts, upon engagement of the bodies 1, 4, to the second limit position. An external force may then be applied to the movable contacts to force them to the first limit position so as to engage the fixed contacts. As described, the external force may be applied by a finger or a finger-like tool to contact individual contacts 5a, 2a; 5b, 2b, or by a roller when more than one contact pair may be engaged simultaneously. A projecting end of the movable contacts may be contoured to facilitate tool engagement and disengagement.
