Abstract

1493070 Valves GENERAL MOTORS Ltd 24 June 1976 [16 July 1975] 29803/75 Heading F2V [Also in Division G3] A valve device comprises a casing having two shell members 25, 28 secured together at their peripheries, a first and a second orifice 18, 20 for connection to a flow line 17, 21, a valve member 38 spring urged at 33 into engagement with a seat 37, and a bimetallic element 40 arranged at a predetermined temperature to lift the valve member from the seat. The device may be mounted in the air cleaner 1 of an internal combustion engine to control the vacuum applied from the intake 22 to a servomotor 9 operating valves 11, 12 controlling ambient air from an inlet 5a and air heated from the exhaust manifold from an auxiliary intake 15. The members 25, 28 and 38 may be of metal or non- hygroscopic plastics with the edges of the shell members sealed by adhesive. The spring 33 may be a coil spring.
