Abstract
1492854 Incubators HGHM PAS 12 Feb 1975 [13 Feb 1974] 5957/75 Heading AIM An incubator comprises chambers 2, 3 and a continuously moving conveyor 1 which introduces to one end of each chamber a plurality of egg-tray stacks 6 suspended from conveyor 1, carries them around a loop path and after an eighteen day incubation period, discharges the stacks from the other end of the chamber. For optimum contact with warm air, which is preheated, aspirated and distributed by pulsators 9, the trays are carried at 45 to the horizontal suspension path. On passing each time through bends 4, 5 the trays are tipped through 90 by guides 7, Fig. 3 which are positioned at the bends and are inclined to the horizontal. To avoid interference between neighbouring stacks, the conveyor speed is arranged to be greater on the bends 4, 5 than on the straight parts. One sixth of the total capacity of the chamber is introduced and an equal number of stacks discharged every three days, and each new stack is positioned behind a stack which was introduced three days before so that a favourable heat exchange occurs between exothermic eggs, and endothermic eggs, i.e. those last introduced.
