Abstract

1492309 Clothes fastenings; buttons N FUKUMOTO 9 Sept 1975 37025/75 Heading A3H A fastening for clothes comprises a headed stud R having a base 17 and a shank 7 integrally moulded from plastics material. The shank 7 terminates in an arrow-head 13 and is preferably reinforced with piano wire. The fastening further comprises a button B having a button head 1 with an ornamental outer surface, a clip member 2 and a base plate 3 having a central hole 8 and a second hole 14. The clip member 2 is made of plastics material and comprises a ring portion 10 and two diametrically opposed spring-like elements 11, 1, 11', having semi-circular notches 12, 12'. the hole formed by these notches being coincident with the hole 8 in the base plate 3. The fastening is assembled by pushing the head 13 through the material of an article of clothing and the hole 8 until the head 13 passes through the holes in and is retained by the elements 11. 11'. To disassemble the button a hair clip &c. is passed through the hole 14 to lift one 11 of the elements 11, 11' thereby freeing the stud R. In the embodiment of figures 7 and 8 (not shown) continuous annular grooves are formed in the button head 1 and in the circumferential edge of the base plate 3. An annular spring is mounted in the space formed by these grooves so that the button head and base plate are detachable. In the embodiment of figure 10, a peripheral wall 22 is formed on the base plate and the button head is arranged to be engaged with the base plate within the confines of the peripheral wall.
