Abstract

1506460 Buttons N E ROGEN 29 May 1975 23489/75 Heading A3H A moulded plastics button 12, which carries a grooved pointed shank 18, is positioned and mounted by pushing the pointed portion 19 of the shank 18 through cloth 11, then locating a fastener 28 and cloth 11 in one groove 24 before breaking off, at a second groove 26, the portion of the shank 18 protruding beyond the fastener 28. The fastener 28 comprises an annular disc with radial slots 34, 36 which assist disc deformation, and a central bore 30 having a chamfer 31 and a stepped bore forming a recess 32. The cloth 11 is clamped between chamfer 31 and a chamfer 15 on one side of the groove 24. A collar portion 22 of the shank 18 is located in the recess 32. The button face may be shaped by moulding to simulate a button attached by thread.
