Abstract

1491671 Seaming non-metallic sheet material FURUKAWA SEISAKUSHO KK 24 Dec 1975 52870/75 Heading B5K [Also in Division B8] In a method of vacuum packaging meat a heat shrinkable plastics bag (see Division B8) the bag is sealed by a sealing head 51 having on its bottom surface an electrically heated strip 72 sandwiched between Teflon (registered Trade Mark) tapes 71, 73. Beneath the tape is a heated, cutting wire 74 having a tape 75 wound at spaced points about it so that the bag mouth is weakened and not cut at these points. The head 51 is lowered into sealing and cutting position by atmospheric air being introduced above a diaphragm (56), and has a coolant channel 63.
