Abstract

1,136,261. Making flat bags. LAMSON PARAGON Lti., and J. G. SPARK & M. E. SPARK, [trading as INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS]. 11 May, 1966 [5 March, 1965], No. 9412/65. Heading B5D. [Also in Division B8] In a machine for making labelled bags in which a label strip (11) (Fig. 2, not shown) is fed round a sharp edge (17) to detach the labels which are then secured on a continuous bag tube-web, the label strip is fed through the length of one label each time a detector 7 (Fig. 1) senses the passage of a bag length of web. In the form illustrated marks (27) (Fig. 3, not shown), on the bag tubing are detected by a photo cell 7 to start the feed of label strip (11), and the feed of label strip is stopped when a photo-electric device (21), (22) detects a passage of a complete label. The label is then pressed by a member 23 on to the bag tubing, which moves intermittently, the presser 23 and a guillotine 26 for separating the bag lengths being controlled by a further photo-electric cell 8 so that they operate while the bag tubing is stationary. The tubing is gussetted by a device 6, and a transverse weld (25a) (Fig. 3, not shown), subsequently completes the bag.
