Abstract

The container sealing machine uses a thermoplastic cover material and requires the minimum auxiliary accessories for its operation. The containers (10) are e.g. formed from thermoplastic material, filled and then conveyed to the sealing machine. A web (21) of thermoplastic material fed from a supply roll (22) passes through a heater (23) and thence to a cover forming station (20) having a stamp (24b) and die (24a). The covers are then separated from the web in a cutting station (25) and pressed with their outsides (12a) against the inside (31a) of an e.g. aluminium cover strip (31) fed from a supply roll (32) to which they are held by e.g. a hot-melt adhesive layer (31a).
