Abstract

The method for fastening a reclosable closure strap (11) to a package involves connecting a previously continuously produced closure strap (11) to a protective strip (23). At a severing station (19), the closure strap (11) consisting of a thermoplastic is severed by ultrasonic means and at the same time is welded along the separated edges (14). Furthermore, the protective strip (23), which is not damaged by the ultrasonic treatment, carries the closure strap (11) which is now divided into portions (12) of the length (a). At the application point (7), this closure strap (11) is attached by means of pressure rollers (53) to the packages (5) guided past on a conveyor band (1) under the application point (57). <IMAGE>
