Abstract

1490562 Control of printers CENTRONICS DATA COMPUTER CORP 29 Oct 1974 [12 Nov 1973] 22548/77 Divided out of 1490561 Heading G4H The description of the present Specification is the same as the parent Specification 1,490,561 but the claims relate to the printing of expanded characters in the form of dot matrices the columns of which are printed a plurality of times. Data to be printed is stored and then fed to a 7 x 9 dot matrix character generator which generates new column signals in response to the outputs DCW1-DCW5 of a counter incremented by strobe signals from the printer. In order to print an expanded character, an auxiliary modulo-M counter passes only every Mth strobe pulse to the column-control counter so that each column is printed M times. Fig. 4i shows the case of M = 2, with overlapping twice-printed columns.
