Abstract

148,919. Bantjes, J. T. F. Feb. 7, 1918, [Convention date]. Fixing by dovetail members and riveted or screwed joints.-The head of a pick, hammer, axe or like tool is formed with dovetail recesses on opposite sides to receive corresponding projections on the end of a metal handle. As shown applied to a pick, the grooves 4 having inclined sides or shoulders 5 receive the projections 8, 9 on the end of the metal handle 7, and fixing screws or rivets 12 are then passed through holes in the ends 8, 9 and in the web 6. The metal handle may be tubular or hollow.
