Abstract
14,798. Boult, A. J., [Hõndel, H., and Maske, C.]. July 1. Racquets for tennis and like games are constructed with their frames, and, if desirable, their handles, made of aluminium or aluminium alloy. The frame is bent from a bar a of aluminium of rectangular crosssection, which may be channelled on the outer surface and perforated for purposes of string- ing. The ends b of the frame pass into longitudinal grooves at the sides of the handle c, and are connected by rivets or screws e. A wedgeshaped tongue d may be secured between the ends b, or may form part of the handle c. The ends b of the frame may be embedded in the handle, and may terminate a little below the neck. An aluminium bridge f, Fig. 4, may be riveted to the frame to strengthen the neck, and the handle, when of aluminium, is made hollow.
