Abstract

1488882 Lubricants EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 19 Aug 1975 [11 Sept 1974] 39630/74 Heading C5F A substantially non-aqueous lubricant fluid or utility oil comprises (i) a major proportion of a mineral oil, fatty oil, synthetic oil or mixture of these, (ii) 0À1 to 2À0% of an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid of 10 to 22 carbon atoms, and (iii) 0À01 to 0À5% of a compound of Formula I or of Formula II where n is zero or 1, R is methyl, ethyl or propyl, R 1 to R 5 are all H, or at least one of R 1 to R 4 is methyl, ethyl or propyl and R 5 is H, methyl, ethyl or propyl. Conventional antioxidants, pour-point depressants and viscosity-increasing agents may also be present. A fatty alcohol may be used to increase the solubility of the nitrogen compound.
