Abstract

1350806 Trisubstituted 1,3,5-triazines PCR Inc 3 Dec 1971 56266/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] Novel substituted 1,3,5-triazines of general Formula I wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently of the Formula II where R f is -CF 3 or -(CF 2 ) p X, X is halogen or hydrogen, p is an integer from 1 to 8 and n is an integer from 1 to 20; and R 3 is a vinyl, phenyl or perhalophenyl group or is independently of the same general formula as R 1 and R 2 , are prepared by (1) trimerizing corresponding fluorinecontaining nitriles under heat and pressure, (2) cyclization of imidoyl amidines with corresponding fluoroacid anhydrides or (3) condensation, by heating to eliminate NH 3 , of three molecules of the corresponding fluorine-containing amidines. The substituted 1,3,5-triazines are used as lubricant and hydraulic fluids. The examples describe the preparation of substituted 1,3,5- triazines wherein R 1 to R 3 have the Formula (II) above, R f is C 3 F 7 - and n is 2 (Example 1) or 1-10 (Example 2).
