Abstract

1488588 Door frame joints EXPANDED METAL CO Ltd 1 March 1976 [4 March 1975] 8957/75 Heading F2M A prefabricated steel door frame having head and jamb members formed of steel sections of the same shape and having mitred corners comprises a steel section having two rectangular channels 3, 4 and two steel legs 7, 8 welded to one of the members in each corner of the frame, the legs being perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the steel section and being received as a push fit one in each of the channels. Internal fixings such as spotwelded members comprising tongues and slots 9, 10 (Fig. 2) may be used to secure the members together. The channels are preferably offset (Fig. 5) to provide a door stop portion 5. The channels may embrace a thin wall 18, or channel 4 may abut the end face (19) of a thicker wall (14A in Fig. 6, not shown).
